To celebrate International Women’s Day in 2024, we collaborated with five community members from around the globe to discuss all things womanhood.
As a female-founded and led brand, our community is at the heart of all we do. We hope this reminds you to celebrate yourself and all the incredible women in your life - not just today, but every day.
What makes you proud to be a woman?
I am proud to be a woman because of the bonds we have and the communities we create, to care for, love and support one another. Having my best girlfriends by my side would tide me over any bad day. I spend every day in awe of how fearlessly kind, compassionate and strong the women in my life are.
How can we best support and empower other women?
We can support each other by listening, encouraging and sharing our stories. One of the most empowering and supportive feelings is to be heard and seen. By giving women a platform to share their joys, struggles and experiences we are all able to learn, embrace and love one another - never feeling lost or alone again.
How does CSB make you feel?
I struggled a lot with body image growing up (even now when I’m older), it’s my rolls when I bend over, my love handles sticking out and my thighs jiggling whenever I put on activewear. Your sets make me feel like none of that matters because it is so supportive, sculpting and suitable for anything and everything.
I literally wear CSB sets everywhere (I actually own almost everything from you!).
Who is the most important woman in your life?
The most important woman in my life is my beautiful mother. Growing up we didn't have much, witnessing her not eat to make sure my siblings and I ate has forever made me adore and hold my mom in a very special space in my heart.
When do you feel most confident?
I feel the most confident when I overcome challenges in life. Knowing I am capable of pulling myself out of hardships in life gives me such an amazing feeling of confidence that only I, myself will be able to understand. So get out there and be confident, walk with your head up, no one knows what you have been through and what you have pulled yourself out of.
Speaking of confidence, what CSB styles make you feel your most confident self?
My goshhhh! So many! My ALL TIME favourite is the Fade Scrunch Leggings and Fade Long Sleeve Sierra Crop. The comfortable fabric hugs my curves and the way it makes me feel is out of this world. It’s my go-to set to go on coffee dates and run errands!
You’re a mother of three, we would love to know how becoming a mum changed your perspective on womanhood?
I was a fiercely independent woman for a long time. I continued this pattern through my first few years of motherhood but I felt like the more independent I tried to be, the more closed off and guarded I became. When I fell pregnant with my third is when I experienced a shift in my perception of what it was to be a woman. I grew up thinking women needed to be hyper-independent to be taken seriously, but I was so burnt out from that way of living. I did a lot of work on myself to step into my feminine energy and I now see womanhood as the most tender and open experience. I’ve always thought women were incredible beings, we carry and sustain life with our bodies, it’s truly magic, but I’ve never been more connected to myself and other women than I am now as a mother.
What is one piece of advice you give to new mothers?
Haha... Honestly, don’t take advice from other mums! Is that CONTROVERSIAL?!
I think it’s amazing to chat with your girlfriends who have been through it before, ask them questions and get guidance if you need it, BUT you’ve got to take it all with a grain of salt because no one knows your baby like you do. You are everything they need, and everything you need to be for them is already within you.
Trust that.
Who is the woman that inspires you the most?
That’s so hard! I don’t think I have one that tops my list, so many women inspire me for all different reasons. I think we’re all multifaceted beings and for each dimension within me, I have different inspirational women that expand me and inspire me. My sister and Lael Stone inspire me as a mum, Lisa Nicolaisen inspires me to continue my Pilates Instructor development, and my close girlfriends inspire me to keep on the personal growth path I’m walking.
We would love to know a little bit about yourself
I currently reside in sunny Los Angeles, California! I'm an active gal - working as a professional dancer and a Pilates instructor in Venice and the Pacific Palisades. Working as a fitness instructor, I'm always on the hunt for comfy, versatile sets I can wear to teach in and I recently discovered my love for CSB about six months ago.
Who is the woman that has most influenced the person you are today?
My amazing mother! No one has taught me more about how to be an independent, hardworking, empathetic, and caring person. She has shown me through her actions how important it is as a woman to think for yourself and create a life you love. Every single day my appreciation for her grows and I do my best to make her proud.
How do you show kindness to yourself?
I show kindness to myself by finding a small act of self-care every single day! Whether it's going on a daily walk to soak in the sun, dressing cute for a dance class to boost my confidence, or relaxing after a long day with a home-cooked meal - doing all of these has only increased my happiness and self-trust.
What piece of advice do you live by?
Show up as the higher version of yourself today.
When I wake up every day I ask myself what would she be doing, how would she talk to herself and how would she show up today because I find that when we genuinely start to pour into our self we start to become the best versions of ourselves. We have everything inside us to become her. So work on yourself every day, be kind to yourself and slowly start to do the things you love and embrace your uniqueness
Who has been the most important female figure in your life?
My mom, she definitely taught me how to never give up even during the hardest times and to remind myself how strong I can be.
We would love to know about your CSB journey so far, your current favourite collection, and what styles would you like to see in 2024?
I've been a part of the CSB community for about a year now. After ordering my first set from the Isabelle Mathers collection I have never looked back. I can confidently say that you are my favourite activewear and I have never felt so confident, empowered and beautiful in my own skin since finding CSB.
I have so many favourite collections but I would say it’s between Rachel's A Day in the Life Collection, or Isabelle Mathers’ En Pointe Collection. I catch myself routing between these two regularly because they have everything I need for a cute set for my training session or when I'm just lounging around the house.
In 2024, I would love to see CSB continue to expand into everyday styles outside of activewear, some great basic shirts or track pants, dresses or skirts for us girls who want to continue to sport our CSB after our favourite workouts.
Here’s to the extraordinary women who lead, inspire, innovate, create and spread kindness in our community and beyond.
